Dave Hubbard Discusses Beach Preservation
SurfriderSB Chapter holds its general meeting with special guest Dave Hubbard to discuss the future of California’s beaches and natural solutions to coastal restoration, with emphasis on the Surfer’s Point Managed Shoreline Retreat Project.

Meeting info: A recent paper by the USGS suggests that up to 70% California’s beaches will be gone by 2100. Why is this predicted to occur and what management efforts can we implement in order to preserve them? Dave Hubbard, a local beach ecologist and contributor to this recent statistic, will discuss how sand on beaches is transported and lost along the coast as well as natural solutions to coastal restoration, with emphasis on his experience with the surfers point manged shoreline retreat project.
